Default PLEASE HELP. Big problems with my MMI

My MMI is completely respondent. Im wondering if it possibly got a little wet. But anyway this is what happens:

Turn Car On. Screen Initially turns on. Says its initializating. Then it goes black and all the red lets on the center MMI console go bright red and simultaneously shut off. Then Nothing works...

I turned the car on over and over to see if ti was just a bug. No luck. I even took off the main cap and tried to have a look in. It doesn't look wet. None of the buttons are sticky.

This means i have no use of any of the center control functions, nav, radio, ipod... etc.

The earliest i can get to my dealer is Wednesday. Need to use the car for work the next two days.

ANyone ever see this happen? Is their a reset?

Default Same thing happened to me on Saturday...

Must be that time of year.

I tried a bunch of things including checking for blown fuses. Nothing.

I'm heading for the dealer this morning.

MMI is software driven and we all know software can fail..the dealer will check a few obvious things first and if they are ok then reinstall the MMI sw.

Can we re-install MMI software on our own?

No, it's a proprietary thing plus only certain versions work with certain models and years plus it's quite huge. You want it done at Audi. But before they do that they'll check it on the computer, it might not even be the MMI.

Default CD player was causing the problem

Dealer said that the CD player needed to be replaced. They didn't have the part in stock so they took it out while we wait for the replacement.

Meantime, the MMI works again.

So reinstalling the software would not have helped in my case.

Default Not the CD afterall

Dealer installed a new CD player, everything was working fine until I plugged my iPhone into the Dension GW 500 (which runs through the CD player). MMI went dead again, so I left the car at the dealer again. Looks like it's the Dension shorting out the CD player. I guess the good news is that it's not the MMI itself and the dealer sold me and installed the Dension, so they can't shift the blame to me.

Bummer!! At least they gave me spanking new A4 as a loaner.
