Power tailgate not/partially openingon first button press

I had issues with my hatch on '08 not latching and that was cured by replacing latch assy. Both it & the '10 have at times failed to open fully, I've been able to correct that by opening fully manually and using the 4 sec plus button press as mentioned above!

Solved!
Heh not sure if you fixed this but for anyone else reading I found a way to fix the problems of power tailgates not lifting all the way up
Press the key fob to open tailgate
Manually lift the tailgate up to the full height
Press the button on tailgate used to close it and hold it for 4 seconds +
That should be it sorted! It worked on mine after two months trying to find a fault and it just needed this reset
Hope this helps

works with interior buttons - not fob
god i hope someone can help! Ive been searching for this for over a year now
SO my fob will open the boot. on the very odd occasion, it opens all the way. Most of the time however, it will just 'pop' open (as in, the lock unlatches and you can see the boot is open a crack)
The handle on the boot its self work everytime
the button in the interior opens fully, evry time
its literally just the fob that it dosnt like. any one got ideas? (battery has been changed too)

When the rear hatch on my 2006 A6 Avant was acting the same way, either on the switch on the driver's door or the rear hatch, the solution was replacing the gas struts (updated P/N 4F9–827–552–J). I placed the original OEM structs with Febi-Bilstein, which is the OEM supplier to Audi. With new struts, I have no issue with the hatch fully opening on the first try.

damn, posted this in wrong topic, wth
this topic poped up just as Im dealing with mine.
I have replaced struts with original new, but I have a problem that it will start opening lets say about 10 inches, and then go back and close itself. then I press it two or three times and eventually will go full height.
Does the same with closing, starts closing, does down5-10" and goes back up. Also, few attempts will eventually close, or I have to give it a little push with my hand to go over that "point" where it makes it go back up.
It used to this very rare, but now its 4/5 times.
