Remote Start
Anyone had a remote start put in their A6? I am an installer but I haven't done one of these before. Any clue which bypass to use and what is used to pulse the starter from the bypass?

do tell... I dont think anyone on the forum has a remote start that is why nobody chimed in.
Ive always wanted a remote start in my audi's but I am always deterred by the electrical gremlins.

I found the ticket!
Ok, so you can do this and it is very easy! The issue is the car has electronic start. Fortin was the only original maker that could bypass this with replacing the key cylinder all together which would cost $1200. I called them today and found out. I talked to Xpresskit and they directed me to the Canmax 400.

The module needs to be flashed for the specific car which can be found at this link and the manual is located there too for install instructions.
The only wires needed to hook up is 3. Can high, Can Low and ignition. The canmax hooks into the remote start and you still need a 556UW which needs to have a valet key put inside it which also hooks into the remote start. Hook up a few wires from the remote start itself and you are set! I plan on installing mine in the next 60 days.

I am much interested in doing this. I tried a couple of places before and got turned down because of the complexity of the car I was told. After a couple of NOs I decided to scrathed it from my list of things to do. Could you please do a DIY write up when you do the install, thanx in advance.

If you use the xpresskit Canmax 400 and a 556uw it will cost this:
Canmax400: $65.00 (immobilizer bypass, locks, alarm...etc)
556uw: $56.00 (key cylinder bypass - you will lose a valet key)
Remote start: Whatever the cost of the remote start is.
If you are going to do it yourself the wiring is pretty easy (I work a best buy and do these day in and day out). The Canmax will have to be hooked up to your computer and flashed with the right programming which only takes about 5 minutes. You can get this done for under $400 total if you get the parts and do it yourself.
