John. That is the low pressure fuel pump. There are two high pressure fuel pumps on top of the engine. Your symptoms indicate one of the HPFP is out of spec. So when you just drive around without any abrupt acceleration your car is fine and has enough fuel. However when you step on the gas the engine requires more gas than the engine is not getting and the ECU immediately puts the car in limp mode. It's not because the low pressure pump is bad. It's because one of the HPFP is bad. The two HPFP on top of the engine are responsible and actually able to supply enough fuel if the car is in hard acceleration.

Before you spend the money on the LPFP do a fuel pressure test. The fuel pressure should be holding on 6 bar. If you have 6 bar then it's one of the HPFP.

I hate dealerships. I don't know what to do. I also have P0491-2 and P1497 and P0442 .the secondary air system parts alone is like $700. The labor for that is absolutely insane. IDK bought car 2 months ago for 16k and check engine light came on 3 days after buying. I love the car but **** , this is rough.
