Was this seriously an option?
Just wondering if the trip, current fuel mileage, average fuel mileage and so on was an option? My a6 doesn't seem to have this?
I guess the stupid things I figured this car would have it doesn't like memory seats Fuel mileage, etc. |
I dont think it was an option. If you look at the screen in the gauge cluster and also at the end of the windshield wiper stick on the right side there are up and down clickers with a reset button under it. See if you have those...
|
Ya that's what I thought as well. When I drove/looked over the car I never check along with many other things as I was for sure they were standard after all it is an A6 ya know. So here is a poor shot of the end of my wiper stick so you can see what I mean.

damn thats weird I thought they all had it!! maybe something you can buy like maybe you can buy the stick and turn the option on through VAGCOM
|
In 2005 the trip computer was standard on the 4.2 and was part of the Convenience Package option on the 3.2, which included:
- Auto dimming and folding exterior mirror - Auto dimming interior mirror with compass - Memory for Driver seat and Exterior Mirrors - HomeLink® 3 channel remote transmitter located in driver's sunvisor - Trip Computer - Storage Package |
This is an 06' 3.2. Was it the same as the 05 year for options?
Also, is there away to add this with out a huge hassle? |
I though it was part of the premium package. On the higher end models, the center display between the 2 gauges are high resolution LCD display as appose to a LED dot matrix diaplay.
|
Yep it was an option. I've seen a few that didn't have it. Yet they still had bose, xenons, auto lights, auto dimming mirrors, memory seats.

I can back that up, as I have an '06 with all that and no trip computer. Yeah, that's pretty weird, but no big deal to me. |
I think they made it satndard in 08 or 07, and the center LCD displat between the 2 gauges comes with the tech package or the premium I believe.
|
It seems cheap to leave that off a car that costs $30,000 new... never mind $60,000+!!!!
What's the marginal cost of that... practically nothing. In fact, it would probably have been less expensive to just put it in all cars so that you didn't have to create two different molds, parts, inventory, etc. |
Pete, That was the exact thinking I had. I mean the computer is capable of it. It has to calculate MPG so it can figgure the amount of miles that are left on the tank as it show's that.
|
Add me to the list of nicely optioned '06 A6's with no trip computer. It is a feature I would like to have... but not half as much as the heated steering wheel that I do not have either!
Are there many heated wheel A6's out there? |

I have the heated steering wheel as well.
We'll see if it is any good once next winter rolls around. I do love the feature where you can press "econ" after engine is shut down and it bleeds off the engine coolant heat for up to 30 min after... Keeps the car toasty warm when you are running errands in the winter! |
As long as we are discussing cool features how about the solar sunroof keeping the ventilation fans running whenever the sun is out? My dark blue car never becomes an oven. Even if I leave the car in the middle of a sunny parking lot for hours the interior temperature stays the same as the outside temperature.

My 08 has the LED center display also, when I had my loaner A6 with the red LED center display, The LCD display in my car made a big difference for the overall look of the gauge cluster,

i have cold weather package and still no heated steering wheel :(
oh, and no trip computer here either - and I do have the premium package. |
guys if you driving in the city you wouldn't like to look at your trip computer every time you look down when the number could go up to 30+L/100K as an average. Even I have the option I choose not to look.
|
Heated Steering Wheel
Heated wheel was a separate option for my 06'-- works great and appreciated in winter!--thougth "cold weather pkg " was for heated seats (rear) and ski sock ???... bu may be remembering wrong???
