Nice write up and it's good to not be intimidated by a DIY on a job that the dealer says never needs to be done.
I would add the following tip:
After filling until it just starts to dribble in park at idle , put the fill plug back in BEFORE killing the ignition. If you don't about 2.5 to 3L will spill out.....

A logical guess, but fortunately I was prepared. I noted when i did the initial drain (engine off) by removing the fill plug (to know that I would in fact be able to refill it)....that was when it puked out a bunch o' the old fluid.
I also improvised a 17mm hex key for the drain plug---will try to post pictures later...

ATF Drain Plug tool
The white paper towel is to show side by side a few drops of the old vs. new fluid.
Edit: I meant the fill plug--duh!

Why don't you call your local dealer and find out? Since even if someone on this forum has a local dealer that does the job cheaper than yours, it won't help you. Also if you don't want to do it yourself, seek out a good local independent audi shop.

Something else worth mentioning, after oil and filter change, if you do transmission adaptation with VCDS give the car couple hundred miles of driving to "learn". At least that's how long it took my car to settle and improve the quality of the shifting.
