Start stop button
My 2008 A6 has a start stop button set up. I don't seem to understand how the start option works? When I purchased the car I assumed the start worked as the button is worn from what appears to be much use. Any help would be appreciated.

The START-STOP switch works in conjunction with your FOB. With you FOB in you pocket/hand, press the brake pedal and push the lower button, which should activate the starter and start the engine. To stop the engine, press the upper button once, which should stop the engine. Press and hold the STOP button again, and that will activate the locking module on the steering column. Since your switch is worn, you should replace it with the upgraded switch, P/N 4F1–905–217E–VUV, which has a round metal start button. The original switch, P/N 4F1-905-217B-5PR, has the rectangular plastic start button that can easily be worn. To R&R the switch, it is very easy, so search this forum for the threads that show how to do it.

Thank you for the response. I will look into securing the upgraded switch. If I am reading correctly, having the switch in my car indicates that the push button start/stop buttons is functional.
