Default Tail light fault

I have a 2007 A6 4.2L S-Line. Last week the driver's side tail light warning faults started popping up on the dash. The warnings were for the tail light lamp, reverse light, and turn signal. As far as I could tell and anyone else that I had look at my car, was that the lights were working fine. Since I was getting the warning, I called Audi service and set up and appointment. They claim that the tail light is having electric issues and does not fully illuminate. They said that I need to get a tail light lamp for $534.98. I talked it over with my dad and we are up in the air on the issue. It's not a trivial amount of money and our thinking was to get the car back and just wait until the light goes out to replace it. Have others had issues with the tail light without any visible issues? What are your thoughts on the situation?

I attached the bill that they gave me. The "headlight assembly unit" is for the adaptive light ability being broken. I feel like no one notices that and that's way too much money to pay to get a thing like that fixed.

Both are common issues.
Do search on them.
Tail light can be easily fixed with some handy work, but AFS headlight fault requires a new headlight assembly.
Search for Hella headlight assembly. It probably about 600 to 700 dollars. \
Aftermarket tail light assembly is less than $200.

As audi bug said, the tail light issue is a common one, and replacing the whole light unit is the normal fix, but if you’re willing to put time and effort into it, you could repair the tail light unit on your car. Related threads below, if you wish to read up on how to replace the tail light yourself and save a lot of “dollabills”:
