Just returned from a test drive. Happy to report that finally I can purchase an Audi that I do not consider to be underpowered! The 3.1 liter engine on the 3.2 performs flawlessly. With only 7 miles on this vehicle, I did not what to floor it, but certainly believe that the 0-60 of 7 seconds is justified.

Ride and handling with 17'' tires was exemplary -with true "go where you point it" aplomb. Took it around and through several twisty roads with no tire squeal, roll, or other problem - also no rattles, squeaks or other annoyances.

Had never considered the keyless start, etc., but must say its pretty darn neat.

The car in question was "oyster gray". I would much have preferred the A4's "dolphin gray". Not sure that I could deal with that purple (plum) tint - but we'll see.

I like this car a lot, and believe that I'm going to go with it, rather than the '05 Acura RL, which I had been seriously considering.

The plum tint on the oyster grey will grow on you like it did on me. Oyster grey with Ameretto will be a flawless combination.

Was it auto or stick? Any notorious Audi tranny lag?

In this country, I believe you can only get auto on an A6! The car was auto, and I did not notice any lag at all - I would say that from 0-60 there appears to a smooth measured response. Also, after slowing down and approaching curves, etc., very smooth and responsive. Note: This is a 6 speed automatic transmission.

Just so I know - have you driven a C5 auto and noticed the lag?
