Torque convertor?

While researching issues with my A6 C6 Avant TCU (part of the valve body and collectively called a mechatronic unit), I came across someone who had similar issues and ended up being the torque convertor.

I'll see if I still have the link to the report.

How many miles has the car done and has the ATF ever been changed?

Without hijacking the thread, is there any proof of torque converter causing this or is is just anecdotal evidence? I remember reading a while back about someone replacing the torque converter and the issue still persisting. Also in another post, the throttle body was replaced and the issue resolved. ZF transmissions are used in a wide range of cars, does anyone know of any other cars other than Audi with ZF doing the same thing? If I was to take a stab in the dark, I would go with replacing the throttle body. Easier and cheaper.I highly doubt that TC is causing that rpm flare.

Another vote for the torque converter. I had the same symptom on my old 05. Throttle body did not correct it. Replacing the torque converter fixed the problem.
