Default Timing belt or chains?

Asking for my own info, does the 2006 A6 3.2L V-6 have a timing belt driving the cams/cam chains ala 2.8L ATQ or does it have a chain driving everything? In other words, is there a timing belt replacement due on the 3.2, ever? Thanks.

It's all timing chains at the back of the engine, no belts for the engine timing components.

I thought that might be the case. It looks like Audi is now using the setup they seem to have pioneered in the V8 Allroad in, like, 2003, or thereabouts. They must have just axed 2 of the cylinders. Thanks, again.

Actually, its not the same as the Allroad 4.2 V8, but closer to the Q7 4.2 V8, since the A6 3.2 V6 has FSI and adjustable intake and exhaust cam sprockets via hydraulic oil pressure through PWM actuator solenoids.

I thought the 3.2 (V6) DOES have a Timing Belt that needs replacing at one of the higher mileage check ups and the 4.2 (V8) is the engine that offers the Timing "Chain" that is maintenance free?

I took this right out of the 4.2 "Service Training" Manual:

The chain drive is maintenance-free and designed for lifetime service.

I think someone with more knowledge of the 3.2 should chime in here...

The 3.2 FSI uses a chain - definitely.

I did not know this. I was interested in this since I tend to drive some decent mileage and am very happy that my 3.2 has chains, since otherwise I'd soon be upto a 2nd belt replacement and am picking up a new car next week (I hope) with the 3.0T.
