Default Which tires for my 20"s?

I just ordered 20" replica A8 wheels and am thinking about what size tires to run with them. I'm torn between 255/30 and 255/35. I like the lower profile look of the 255/30, and it will be more accurate on the speedo. However, I'm a bit concerned that the profile of the 255/30 will be too low, causing my wheels will take a beating. Compared to my stock 245/40/18 tires, I'll have nearly 0.85 inches less of sidewall on each side. On the other hand, I don't think the profile of the 255/35 is low enough, being only 0.34 inches less on each side than stock. What do you guys think? Is the profile of the 255/30 tire really too low to be considered "safe" for the wheels?

Also, what's the best place to buy tires? I can special order either set from Costco for about $1000 (BF Goodrich G-force), which includes mounting, balancing and installation. The price, so I'm told, also includes Costco's road hazzard warranty, which I originally thought was voided if you installed a wheel/tire combo that wasn't recommended. However, the lady I talked to told me that the warranty applies as long as they can fit the tires on the car without rubbing. Does anyone know either way if the warranty would still be valid? Also, does anyone have experience with the G-force tires? They seem to be decently rated on tirerack. Finally, where do you all get the best deal on your tires? Sorry for all the questions but for obvious reasons, I want to get it right the first time.

Default 255/35/20 here - No rubbing.

I prefer the lower profile of the 30series and will get those next time around.

Default FWIW - I ran 255/40/19's and they fit perfectly, 27.1 OD.

Like you I'd rather have a bit more sidewall....

Default Get the tires balanced on a Hunter GSP9700. No shimmy or shake even at triple digits.

Leo at Edge Racing or Tread Depot might offer competitive pricing.

From the Hunter site:

"he GSP9700 incorporates Hunter's exclusive Road Force Measurement® System, which uses a "road roller" to apply up to 1,400 lbs. of pressure against the wheel assembly to test if the assembly is round when rolling. The roller can find problems such as lack of tire uniformity that once could only be detected by industrial tire uniformity graders. With this ability, the GSP9700 can perform the ForceMatching® procedure, which finds the stiff or high area on a tire and the low spot on a rim to be matched together to cancel vibration caused by radial force variation and provide that "new car ride."
The optional StraightTrak® Lateral Force Measurement feature measures lateral forces in tires that cause pulls and drifts. As each wheel is measured, StraightTrak calculates a tire placement plan to produce the least amount of net lateral force and systematically minimize, offset or eliminate these problems. The versatility of the StraightTrak LFM feature enables a technician to integrate this valuable information into tire mounting and balancing processes, tire rotations and alignment service."

Default I'm getting 255/30/20 for my 20's in a couple weeks, but can't find one with a load rating.....

that is identical or close to my stock tires. I guess adding about 4 or 5 psi to the recommended tire pressure would compensate for that.

Default Will a different load rating affect safety or performance?

Is there a recommended maximum that it can be off by?

Default Less load than the stock tires could be a safety issue, that's what i've been told....

i normally just cruise when i'm driving so i guess it would not be a problem but certain driving conditions requires abrupt maneuvers, the tires might not be able to handle the load.
