Default Under Body/Under Tray/Baffle/Belly Pan...

...whatever it's called... mine got damaged recently and was removed in the last service. Do you guys have any opinions if it's really even required? I'm thinking on the one hand, it must have served a purpose, on the other hand, at least I don't have to worry about it getting snagged on anything again and tearing off!

Pros
protect more expensive parts from damage
reduce noise and
help aerodynamics.

Cons -
if you have a fluid leak they absorb it or can deflect the leak so you won't know where it is, how bad it maybe.
Also if say salt is an issue and it gets past the shield no amount of car washing will get that out unless you take the shield off (which I will be doing come spring) .

I do think the undertray adds a lot to these cars. The engines are not especially quiet so the benefit of having it enclosed in a box, covered top and bottom, is not to be underestimated. I’m sure if you drive with no undertray you’ll find the cabin is not such a civilised place to be, but if you’re a bit deaf then no problem there! The road crud finding its way into the engine bay and landing on all the cables, connectors and sensors would worry me, especially if you drive anywhere which is salted in winter.

The belly pan also attaches to the front wheel well liners, which add support the liners. Without the belly pan, the wheel liner could wear out sooner from debris kicked up by the tires.

Hi guys, I respect your advice, it sounds like really I should ideally replace it. Looks like this is the piece I need to order - part # 4F0-863-821-K

And all the associated nuts and clips and bits...

Hi A6Gary - yes you're right, I just had a look and notice the front wheel well liners are no longer attached to anything.

Does the "Front Deflector" that I am looking to order connect up to the front wheel well liners? - https://www.audiusaparts.com/oem-par...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D

Or do I need these additional shields and spoilers aswell do you think?

That front deflector (P/N 4F0-863-821-K) is the correct part, which fastens to the wheel liners. The other two parts may not be necessary, but they are a part of the liner assembly. Are you also missing the rear liner (P/N 4F0-863-822-A, #6 in the illustration)? And don't forget the metal dowel pins (P/Ns 8D0-805-121 [6 x 18], 8D0-805-121-D [6 x 20]), which attach the liner to the subframe. The plastic dowel pins to secure the wheel liner to this deflector are P/N 4A0-805-121-A, (2 per side required).

Ah good point, thank you A6Gary. I had assumed the rear deflector was at the rear of the car - perhaps that plastic part around the exhaust. However from Googling images, it looks like it is actually the rear portion of the front deflector. Looks like it would cover the gearbox area.

I'll have to see if I can look under the car and see if I can see if I still have that piece attached or not...

Those spoiler items, I believe they attach into the wheel wells ahead of each wheel. They are definitely missing so I will order those too.

The only other parts I am unsure of are these; https://www.audiusaparts.com/oem-par...MtMmwtdjYtZ2Fz

When you google image search that part number, it looks like some strange shaped piece..

That rear deflector is actually attached to the front deflector. When you remove the dowel pins that secure the deflectors to the underside of the body, both the front and rear drop down together. Before you order anything, I would suggest that you run your A6 up on ramps to inspect what is there and what is missing, compared to the part image on the website. That way, you'll be sure to get what you need and not duplicate what you already have.
