Default wheel offset question

So I've been looking at wheel / suspension pics and willtheyfit and I'm having a tough time deciding which size wheels to go with.
This is on an 07 S6 so stock size is 19x9 ET52 265/35/19.

Looking at TSW Nurburgring in 19x9.5 with either 265/35/19 or 275/35/19. Available ET is 41 or 53.
53 would be approx 6mm wider inside and out.
41 would be stick out 17mm, but would give more clearance to the suspention components.

I'm really leaning toward the ET53.

Also... the TSW site shows 19x8.5 and 20x9 fitting this car, but not the 19x9.5... not really sure why.

Do you have the car lowered or is it on stock suspension?

The stock wheel for your vehicle is 9" wide, so adding a 1/2" will make it even wider. That's why they don't recommend stretching the tire even more than needed. If it were me, I'd just get the 19x8.5 and then get the 41mm offset and it'll look great.

Thanks.
Stock suspension.
Recommended rim width for that size tire is 9 - 10.5 so I don't want to go narrower than 9.

Ok I see, but a couple of questions:
Why are you changing wheels, but getting the exact same setup as stock?
Why not get larger wheels or for the sake of cost, more conventional tire sizes...since the 265 tend to be higher priced at times.

Are you looking for a more confortable ride? More aggressive wheels asthetic? or something else.

This is a daily driver that I put about 100miles a day on so I didn't want to go with 20s and 30series tires.
I'm probably going to go with 275s as they are a little cheaper and more common.
I bought the car last year and it came with every factory wheel curb rashed beyond belief... like every wheel, every portion of the lip... it's as if someone drove against the curb for a good 100 feet... haha.
Also it came with Blizzaks which have been great this winter, so I'm looking for a second set of wheels / tires for the rest of the year.
