Default Will any AUDI 16 in. Wheels work on '06 A6 Avant

Just wondering as I have a fresh set of Nokian Hakkapelitta R2's in 205/60x16 on Urs6 Avus wheels. A set in 245/45 x 17 would probably be close to $1K installed! Just got this A6 and love it!

The standard wheel size for the '06 A6 C6 is 17-inch diameter with a specific offset. I doubt any 16-inch wheel should be installed, even with the same offset, because of lowering the body, which is already quite low.

The 205/60 x16 tires are exactly the same outer diameter (25.7 in.) as the stock 245/45x17! My concern would be brake clearance primarily. YES, I know they are narrower than stock, that is actually better in severe snow/ice conditions.
Thanks,

Stuff, the number of 16" wheels that will fit the car are very small. Gary at Tire Rack can ID which will fit. He set up our car with a 16" winter tire/wheel pkg.

The Owner's Manual will show that 16", 17", 18" and larger were fit to the car ROW.

Thanks! I have some Urs4 16x8 FUCHS & URS 16x7.5 AVUS wheels. It seems to me that some of the milder Big Brakes fitted to Urs6's were happier w/Avus, so I'll try test fitting one for clearance. The Hakka R2's are on the FUCHS so I'll try them 1st.

I stand corrected. I just checked the gas filler door on my '06 A6 Avant, and it lists a 16-inch wheel. The 16-inch tire size is 225/55 R16 vs. the std tiire 245/45 R17. I couldn't locate the offset, but you should be able to SFTAs for that number.

often the larger rims used to clear the front brake calipers. so if you try to put smaller rims, they might not fit over the calipers and the suspension parts.
or if I can put a positive spin on it: your car has huge brakes

Otherwise I personally would prefer 16" over 17" rims. they are lighter, give better grip and do not bend over NYC potholes as much.
