Wrinkles
1 Attachment(s)
This just happened a couple of days ago. It was very cold here (-12 F) and when I got in my car in the morning, this is what I saw. Anyone ever see this before? Causes? Fixes?
Unfortunately, the car isn't under warranty, so it's on my dime to fix. Is this trim something that can be replaced, or is it simply part of a larger component?
You can replace just the trim.
CORRECTED: The trim around the MMI control unit IS replaceable, its called the "Retaining Frame", P/N 4F0–864–260–A, available at genuineaudiparts.com or audipartsnationwide.com for #34.80.

I have the same problem, wonder how hard this would be to replace without breaking tabs and scratching the trim
I recently replaced my the large wood trim piece on the center console. The plastric chrome retaining frame is accessed by pulling the shift boot out of the console, remove the gear indicator, and then prying the tabs that secure the retaining frame off the center console. During my R&R, I managed to break one of the tabs on the retainig frame when I was trying to pry from the backside. But I found the easiest method was to pry the tab as you pulled the frame from the top side. Once all of the tabs are released from the console, the frame just comes out. New frame just snaps back in.
