Default Xtool Vag401 uses?

Hey everyone- I recently purchased the Xtool Vag401. Have used it so far to check fault codes, do a throttle body adaptation, check the intake/exhaust measurements for Banks 1 and 2 in Block 93 and reset the maintenance reminder. I'm curious what else you've used this tool (or VCDS) for and what other things I should be checking with it? Appreciate the feedback.

I have vcds and have used it for everything you mentioned, plus making a coding change to allow the tv tuner to work while the car’s in motion and monitoring what the transmission is up to when the rpms are fluctuating, in this thread: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/a6-...oblem-2971096/

I’m thinking of making use of it to change the coding of the convenience module so that a long press on the remote control doesn’t roll the windows half down, as my car keys live in my pocket and I often go to the garage and find I’ve opened the car windows inadvertently.

I've been using this on my A6 C5 2004 3.0L Avant for over five years now with no issues whatsoever. I've been using this on my quest for a newer A6 C6 (or newer) wagon for over the last 30 days now. Works flawlessly and even gives me an idea of the current condition of the timing chain.

Code new steering wheel with paddles. Turn off annoying seatbelt chime. Hold rear electronic parking brake open so you can do rear brakes. Everything said above and much much more.

Looks like the Xtool Vag401 is pretty affordable. I've used to have a VCDS license, and still have my "generic" cable, but transferred my license when I sold my last Audi. Now I'm back in an A6, i'm looking to either get a VCDS license, or a Xtool. Does the Xtool also allow you to change coding for modules, such as for convenience features, or is it's function limited as compared to VCDS?

You can absolutely use it to code those different modules. I have done it. It also clears fault codes in those modules. The only thing is that you may need to do some research to figure out what each digit in the code represents because the tool won't tell you. I'm not sure if VCDS does that. For example. If the code is 00238745 and you need to know that by changing the 8 to a 6 that it does "whatever", you will need to go and find that info and then do it using the tool. Hope that made sense.
