I did get confirmation from the dealer that my car was covered for 8 years and either 100-120K (I can't remember what he said) miles for the carbon issue of SAI. From talking with the techs it isn't the rear port that is the clogging issue it is the individual runner ports leading to each cylinder. It is an engine out service from what they mentioned today.

So this is what I sent to Audi Canada Customer Service:

From: Frank Kaufman

Subject: Carbon cleaning

Gentlemen;

I understand that there is a Secondary air carbon cleaning procedure that needs to be done after a certain mileage on Audi vehicles. Does this apply to the TDI models also or only to the TFSI?

I have a 2015 A7 TDI.

Thank you

Frank Kaufman

And this is the reply I got:

RE: 2015 Audi A7
Ref#: 2017/03-001692

Dear Mr. Kaufman,

Thank you for contacting Audi Canada.

We can confirm that the secondary air ports carbon cleaning procedure is not part of the Manufacturer’s Scheduled Maintenance table. As such, there is no specific time or mileage at which Audi Canada recommends that a secondary air ports carbon cleaning procedure be performed.

You may also find attached to this email the service scheduled applicable to Model Year 2015 Audi vehicles for an exhaustive list of all maintenance items and intervals.

We hope this addresses your inquiry, and should you have any further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us through our Customer Care Center at (800) 822-2834. We are open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm, Eastern Standard Time.

Please be advised that you may receive a short survey by e-mail regarding your experience with our Customer Care Center. Please take a few moments to complete this. Your feedback is important and will allow us to serve you more effectively in the future.

Sincerely,

Alexandre Larochelle

To which I have just replied:

You have answered all kinds of (non-asked) questions here, except the one I have asked.

Let me repeat it in a more simplified format:

Does the “secondary air ports carbon cleaning procedure” apply to the TDI models also or only to the TFSI?

This question requires a plain YES or NO answer.

Frank

Stay tuned!

So I got the following response:

RE: 2015 Audi A7
Ref#: 2017/03-001692

Dear Mr. Kaufman,

We thank you for replying to our previous email and apologize for any misunderstanding in the nature of your inquiry.

The secondary air ports carbon cleaning procedure is only applicable to the 3.0 TFSI and the 3.2 TFSI.

If you are experiencing an issue with your 2015 Audi A7 TDI, we would advise that you contact the service department of your Certified Audi Dealership, where one of their trained and certified technicians can assist with your vehicle concern.

Should you have any further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us through our Customer Care Center at (800) 822-2834. We are open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm, Eastern Standard Time.

Sincerely,

To make it simple, it does not apply to TDI, only to TFSI engines.

Just serviced it again at 255,000 miles. Just doing the scheduled maintenance and getting things replaced when suggested by the mechanic at the dealership. I don't know a thing about cars. But i put this a7 through a lot of driving in all conditions and its (knock on wood) never let me down

Good for you! I think it's great to keep a car for a long time and get max productive use. Also very environmentally friendly.

Out of curiosity, when did you get the timing belt changed? Also, what was your most expensive scheduled service bill? I'm surprised you used the dealership, as they usually charge a lot more than an indy mechanic, especially for the big intervals. Thanks.

wow, I had hard time selling my 2005 A6 cuz it had 157,000 miles on it. you're gonna have that car forever, lol.
then drivetrain in the A6 was great and never gave me a repair problem. it was the suspension up front and electronics that needed repair, AC, MMI, Sat radio, etc.
now I'm in a 2012 A7 as well. has 50,000 on it, I still have an A4 that I drive split time with to spare the A7 some mileage, but I'm hoping all holds up well.

Over 300,000 miles now. Im just gonna keep going until something major fails on it. Everyone that's seen the car or worked on it can't believe how good it's been to me. Anyone else with a a7 that's run up more miles than this one?
