Default 2016 Audi S6 vs 2016 Audi A7

Weird comparison - but I'm trying to decide between the 2016 S6 and A7. I had a 2012 A7 before but wound up getting rid of it earlier this year. My biggest complaints with it were the un-supportive seats, slightly slow acceleration, only 2 seats in the back (2012 model), and it was in a color that wasn't my favorite. I traded it in for a Porsche Macan, but to be honest, I miss the A7; The Macan feels a bit slow to me and I hate riding so high up.

Luckily, trade-in values are crazy high on the Macan now, so I'm seriously considering going with a 2016 S6 or A7.

Pro's for the S6:
- more HP/TQ, better engine
- rear differential
- better seats
- availability of Sepang Blue Pearl Effect/Mugello Blue

Pro's for the A7
- sleeker & sexier design
- hatchback practicality
- super charged engine can sometimes feel more responsive than even the 4.0T
- slightly lower cost

Hoping to get some feedback from the community on this.

Anyone on this A7 forum had the option of buying an S7 for about the same price, chose the A7 for many of the reasons you provided and will tell you to get an A7. If you go to the S6 forum, they bought their car for the reasons you provided and will tell you to get an S6. So - what type of "feedback" are you looking for? It's personal preference and we can't tell you or debate what's important to you...

not sure my reasons will matter to your situation but I choose the a7 over the s6 mainly because the a7 is a far better looking car then the s6. in my mind driving the a7 is far better looking, exciting and a more unique car then the s6 as it falls in the a6/a4/series 3/series 4/series 5 population of similar looking cars. Why I then choose the A7 over the S7 was little to do with price as after discounts we were only looking at approx £7000 which is not a huge amount relative to the overall price. the reason was really down to the wife. We are a one car family so the four seats of the s7 can be quite an issue if you are lugging kids and their friends around town. If that was not an issue i would have taken the s7 for its more sporty feel and power. that being said i don't feel too bad as in reality i would never really get a chance to test it out much due to living in a city and as said before lugging those kids all around.

Well the pro points for the S6 address all your biggest complaints from your last A7. However, will you be satisfied without a "sexier" looking car???

Haha, that is the exact concern I think the new 2016 models, in sepang blue, with the black otpic package, might fit the bill.

What I don't understand is that you got rid of an A7 once because of things you didn't like, but those things have not changed. What am I missing?

Biggest part of getting rid of the A7 was the 2 seats in the back.. Performance I could improve with a tune, etc.. but I couldn't make 2 seats into 3. Also, the new 2016's have more HP/TQ and some other improvements that are helpful.

If you didn't like the A7 the first time around, chances are you won't find a meaningful difference. Why not wait for a full redesign? By 2016, it's already the 5th year of the inaugural A7 (which I love).
