2017 CPO Audi A7 or 2017 CPO Porsche Macan?
I'm a current 2010 Audi Q5 (3.2L) owner, but my much-loved Q5 now has 103K miles and I'm looking for something to take its place. I've been scouring the Internet looking at CPO cars and have found both a 2017 CPO Audi A7 and a 2017 CPO Porsche Macan as potential replacements. This car will be my daily driver, and I drive about 15K miles per year, both city and highway driving. My wife and I have Shelties, so we'll need to move the dogs around, hence the need for either a hatchback or SUV (like the Q5). I've considered a CPO Audi SQ5, but newer versions of those are very hard to find. I'd like something a bit sportier than the Q5, hence the interest in the A7 or Macan. All insights appreciated.

I sold a Touareg and bought the A7 for my wife. She preferred a sedan like vehicle with ample room in the back (ie hatchback) The A7 seems like a perfect compromise, though for me, the V8 Touareg was the best vehicle I had ever owned.

We have a 911 so lot of familiarity with Porsche. Spent a lot of time in the Cayenne and a little time in the Macan. I'm not much of an SUV guy, but have to admit that the Cayenne is really a great ride. Its one of those "If I had to have an SUV..."
Again less time in the Macan, but wasn't nearly as impressed. I thought the ride was nervous and a bit unsettled. Straight line acceleration was good (this was base model not the "Turbo" model), but a lot of roll in the corners. Interior was as good as the Cayenne, but obviously with the Porsche option list being what it is you can vary greatly here from car to car. Probably a bit unfair to compare our A7 to a Macan for performance. With the A7's lower center of gravity its going to handle much better.
Porsche's are also expensive to maintain. Annual oil change on my 911 is around $600. Granted that a 1x per year cost and includes other mtce items, but it still hurts to give my credit card for that. The Macan will be cheaper, but I doubt it will be less than the A7.
Obviously I would do all the basic things like check carfax, tire wear, paint damage, etc... Ideally also see if routine maintenance was done on the cars prior to trade.

I have driven both an S7 and A Macan GTS on the track. The GTS is a pretty nice little track truck. The S7 does OK, but you really feel the weight when you start to toss it about on the track.
Not really a fair comparison between the two. I wouldn't think that many would cross shop between them.

Check out Motormouth Canada on YouTube. He reviews both the Macan and A7. He also explains why he himself went for an A7 after trading out of a Cayenne. Might be worth looking at.
