Default A7 w/ Stasis vs. S7

Okay, this is a sanity check....

I read the pros and cons about tuning the A7. I also have price quotes for trading my A7 for an S7. And without going into the details of my negotiation skills, it seems it will cost me approximately $25K to trade in the A7 towards the S7.

I also got some prices to add the Stasis Touring Package. It runs north of $11K

or

I could just do the Stasis tune and exhaust for about $4,700.

What would you do? Is it worth the extra money for the S7?

Are you bumping up a model year? I don't see how the spread ends up at $25k?

Definitely don't do the touring package. The tune/exhaust will give you all the performance bits

You will always have performance and resale advantages to the S7, but $25k sounds steep

The spread between a NEW A7 and S7 is only about $15k (when similarly equipped) so $25k is a bad move... you'll regret that for a long time

I'd suggest selling your A7, and sourcing a similar (used I assume) S7. You should be able to accomplish that for $12k or so (the price of the Stasis Touring) and will keep you happy for a LONG time!

Because he is trading in a used car towards a new car, that is why the extra 10k, his best bet now ithat he has an A7 already, is to tune the car (GIAC or stasis) and install an exhaust (AWE or Stasis) which in my opinion leaves the A7 with a nicer exhaust note than the stock S7, and keep the car and enjoy it (no touring package just like clintb stated)

Or

Sell the A7 to a private party and try to get as much money as he can and then buy an used S7(an almost impossible task right now)

Buying a new S7 no matter what he does with the A7 will leave a dent in his wallet bigger than the difference between both models.

Yes, you are correct. I would be going from a 2012 (my A7) to a 2014 (S7).

My car 2012 msrp was 70k, trading in my car for 60k towards a new S7 at 85k doesn't sound bad at all, it doesn't sound bad because I am getting a fair value for my car without the hassle of selling it myself, (I was offered 52k for my car back in December towards a S7 purchase and obviously I said NO way.

Honestly I love the S7 but I don't think I would pay a huge amount of money just to upgrade to it, I don't think it is worth it. Think about this: would you do it to upgrade from a 2012 A7 premium base to a 2014 prestige with enough options to make a 12k difference vs a 2014 premium base? (It is the same concept)

No right?

If I am going to spend big money I would rather do it to a completely newer model in some years or maybe a RS7 or something different of what I have already.

Enjoy your car, tune it and enjoy it even more.

Totally agree. Enjoy your A7 for another year or so, then upgrade to a refreshed S7/RS7/A7.

...unless money is burning a hole in your pocket and you "need" an S7 today.

I thought long and hard about trading my A7 for an S7, but instead opted for the Stasis tune and exhaust (which transformed the car), and I have stopped lusting after the S7 ....then Audi announced the RS7.....I have one on order.....

I have a 2013 A7 with Stasis and LOVE it. I am leasing it because I always get car fever every couple of years and just like to hand the keys in and get what is new.

What did they say about putting a chip in, with you leasing the car?
