Audi MMI will no longer connect to phone as a media device

Yesterday my phone stopped connecting to my car as a media player. I can still make and receive calls through the car but I can't play music. When I go to the media player I get a message saying "This medium or device is being loaded. Please wait." This message will not go away until I disconnect my phone. I've tried resetting the bluetooth settings on the car and hard resetting my phone but it still will not work.

Try resetting the MMI, 3 button method, I've learned that simply turning car off then on is not a power cycle for the MMI.
