DIY Repair
I posted this over on Audizine as well, but most of those guys don't seem to appreciate DIY stuff as much as "pay someone else to do it"... lol
I bought my 2012 A7 last year from a couple in Florida. Those years in the FL sun took their toll on the plastics. I was removing the cover that goes over the camera and controller behind the rear view mirror and it's plastic tabs broke. Instead of buying a new one (about $32), I decided to repair it myself.
The missing tabs go into the openings to the right in this picture:
This is what it looked like; almost exactly the same break on both sides:
I cut away bits to clean and make adding a replacement easier:
Measured, designed, and 3D printed replacement bits and glued them in place. Made the bits wider than original so it would hold better via glue.
It took a little effort to snap it in place and now is as secure as it was originally.
