Default Jack stand locations on the A7

This topic probably has been beaten to death but a lot of old photos hosted on photobucket are long gone. And I am curious to know if I can jack up the car using the spot right next to the factory jacking recess so I can put the jack stand right at the recess. Thoughts?

I don't think that will work. The area around the jacking point is covered in plastic.

I would put the jack under the point where the control arm is attached to the frame. You'll probably need a small block of wood or a hockey puck on the top of the jack stand.

Check out this guy's S6 build. Near the bottom of the page he shows the jacking point close to the factory jacking recess.

I see what you mean. Looks like there is something solid behind the front wheel that the jack is on. Maybe a pinch weld.

Here's a shot I took when my exhaust was installed.

There is a pinch weld next to the jack point, but Audi specifically says not to use it. I have set my car jacks and used that point before. It seemed to hold just fine, although did mark up the metal there.
