Key fob battery life expectancy?
Seems like I'm having to replace both key fob batteries about every 3 or 4 months. Is this normal? The 'dead' one I just replaced showed a multimeter reading of 2.93 volts, which wasn't enough to start the car. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

if you are in the habit of leaving the key in the car when it's, say, parked in the garage at night, or even just leaving the key in the garage, that is why. If the key is in proximity to the car, it will always be communicating, which means the battery will get eaten quickly.

Hmmm...we never leave the key fobs in the car overnight, they're inside the house, and we have a detached garage. Perhaps I just got a bad batch of batteries (Maxell). I've now switched to Energizer, and I'm noting the dates when I install them, so I'll have an accurate record of their useful life.

It's been my experience that the batteries last for years in our cars.
