Looks awesome! Don't really know anything about plastic dip. I'll have to look into it and how the wear and tear is on it, I live in the Boston area so we get pretty harsh winters.

Plasti Dip is pretty durable. It’s all about applying the proper amount of coats to ensure it’s durability and the ability to peel it easily when you’re ready to go back to the factory look or switch it up again. They’re YouTube channel is full of guides and how tos. It’s also pretty user friendly. This was my first time ever doing anything like this.

So now, your car is impervious to radar and laser speed detection devices?

The matte finish looks great. Is there any sort of care you do with the Plasti Dip? I guess you can't wax it or anything like that?

I hand wash it with this plasti dip specific washing solution they sell. I never run it through one of those automatic car washes. They also recommend applying this dip protect solution maybe once every couple weeks to help protect it and give it a decent shine.

A few questions if you don't mind.
1. Roughly how much did it cost in materials?
2. Did you do cans or spray gun?
3. How long did it take and did you do it all at once or in parts?
Thanks ahead of time.

1. I paid about 700 for all materials, with a 20% discount. They have sales all the time. 156 of it was for the sprayer. The paint cost varies depending on color and car size. And taping and extras you may be able to get cheaper at a local paint shop.

2. I used the Plasti Dip sprayer they sale. DO NOT use spray cans to do the entire car, it is not recommended.

3. It took about two days. The first day is jus a simple wash and letting it dry for 24 hours. Afterwards it probably took me 8 hours to mask/prep, wipe down the car twice with their predip solution, and then spraying the car. You have to let it dry for about 20 minutes between coats. The plasti dip dries really quick so you’ll be cleaning the sprayer after each coat which is what adds more time. Actually spraying the car, even while doing it carefully, doesn’t take very long. But you will be applying about 8 coats total.

The masking/prep is what’s going to make or break your project.

Very nice. Thanks again for the info. I'm tired of the tiny paint chips all over the hood and think the matte finish looks sharp.

Now seriously thinking about doing this. I have an air compressor and would only need a paint gun. I have 2 colors in mind.
