Stolen from the A6 forum. Will definitely be doing this mod to my wife's A7.

Yes, it's prevelant in many sports cars. That's why I'm happy to know it can be done by reprogramming the A7.

Are you talking about the spinning of the needles or the changes in redline LED? Because on the A7 the redline LED stays the same length as the car starts.

Both... Neither is a stock setting.

It must be set by programming the ecu with a vag-com or other tool.

You can enable a hand sweep on start which basically tests the guauges by sweeping them and also lights the redline LEDs.

Guess it's time for me to go hang out in the VAG-COM Discussion forum and figure out how to mess around with my (soon-to-be) new Audi.

There must be physically LEDs on the tachometer beyond what's available for this mod to work. And I wonder why there are LEDs beyond the actual redline of the car....

It's possible that the redline actually shifts down based on oil and engine temperature - even if it's at 4k. (And perhaps Audi is reusing the same instrument panel for other higher performance models later on...)

Yes... There are un-lit LEDs. Whatever is programmed into the ecu, displays the appropriate redline.

This allows it to be reprogrammed and changed if needbe
