Poor man's way to an Audi A7 quad exhaust
My Audi A7 3.0T with muffler stubs opened-up to create quad exhausts for better airflow. This is in preparation for the Stasis chip tune and I may go with full external quad tips when the S7 rear valence becomes available next year.
Sounds better in real life as the little camera does not capture the lower notes of the sound well. Total cost to have a metal shop do this is only about $300.

Very cool Jerry, sounds great. How is the sound inside the cabin?
Also, how does opening up the current exhaust get you Quad? Do you mean that by opening up the stock tips that the airflow is now approaching that of a quad exhaust?
Again, sounds pretty cool! Details?

Interior sound is a bit louder without a bad droan that can plague these systems. If in a garage, you can hear a nice rumble. Outside, it is a bit less so. I did this to my A5 two years ago and ended up with this setup as the AWE one drove me crazy. Wife hated it also so I went back to the stock Audi setup but with quad tips and it looked great. You know this is working since there is a slight droan when at 1800 RPM now.
What this mod attempts to do is open up the sealed stubs adding one more outlet to each muffler. This is similar to how last years stock S6 was setup except the two new outlets do not show in the rear. The main result is that there is less restriction and more airflow out the tailpipes. Wonder if anyone makes a better intake box and filter for the 3.0T yet?

Got it. Yeah I always worry about getting that one frequency that does drone on and get into ones skull making driving no longer pleasurable but a chore.
Was the machine shop a necessity due to having a few bits made for this or was the drilling out just done cleaner at the shop as opossed to at home?
Thanks Jerry.

The shop had to weld open the holes in the tough steel and I wanted the hot gas to go down and not melt the rear valence. The steel tubes he welded on can now be used as a base to attach the tips should I go that extra mile for a quad look in the rear.
