Default Safety Recall - Fuel Line A6/A7 2012-2014

SAFETY RECALL 20AR - Fuel Line

I received a recall letter yesterday. The fuel line was designed with a compression point to assist in installation. Some are leaking.

Parts will be available February 19, 2018. It's about a three-hour replacement if your fuel line fails inspection.

If you smell fuel, don't wait for a letter.

I just checked my 2014 A7 on the Audi recall site and it's not listed.

Could be that they changed fuel line types later in the run or they haven't sent all the letters yet.

I asked at the service desk today and they don't know anything more than what's written in the letter. When someone knows where the compression point is, I'll check my own fuel line and go from there.

First it's the 24BZ fuel hose and fuel pump recall, and now 20AR fuel line recall?

wow....

I have a 2014 - just had the recall service completed last week. Service advisor said it would take 3 -5 hour but they had the car for more 2 days. I didn't complain because I had a loaner from Audi...

Just a heads up on the service time.

Any idea where the fuel line is located? Did they have to drop the fuel tank? Not much else would take two days.

I just had the recall work done yesterday on my 2012 A6 3.0t (68k miles) and it only took about 3-4 hours. I have attached a PDF showing the procedure. Perhaps on PrincipalJenkins's car, they had to do the earlier recall work also?

not sure - i remember them saying they had to remove a lot of stuff. Also said they were not able to complete the service on any car within those specified guidelines.

Again - wasn't a big deal to me because the gave me a loaner and usually offer good service

Thanks for the PDF. The recall replaces the fuel line between the tank and the engine compartment firewall. The front wheel and wheel liner are removed and a bunch of clips replaced. On page 7, there is a picture of the fuel line with the flare on it. Here's the inspection procedure so you can check your fuel line.

"Open hood and inspect fuel line.
• If fuel line is flared - Continue with fuel line replacement.
• If fuel line is not flared, no further work is required - Proceed to Section C. "

I couldn't copy the picture from the PDF. I do have a picture of my 2012 A7 with the flared fuel line. On the left is an in-line fuse for my air horns. The center is the fuel line with the flare. The right is the EVAP line.

Sorry for the huge picture. Windows 10 updated last night and my attachments are completely different.
