Will we get the new MMI?
Hey!
Just came across the MMI design on the new A3 Sedan.
Wondering if we, current A7 owners would be able to get this via a software update?

I don't think they will either. Esp as they don't upgrade form one revision to another within the current A7 setup (i.e. an early 2010/11 setup will not be upgraded to the latest setup available on a new car bought today).
Are Audi, and other car manufactures are missing a trick? The world of in-car communication/ info-tainment (sat nav, music, movie/ video, internet radio, etc...) has moved on greatly over the last 5 years. They should consider re-thinking the current setup offered (even on the newest models) by providing the following: -
- Keep all or most hard button controls on the steering wheel and consoles
- Keep Speakers and amp's required
- Keep Dab, GPS, Phone antenna modules
- Keep Hard drive * SD card slots for music & Maps (if required)
- Keep Bluetooth
- Replace the following components with universal dock, which can supplemented by a specific doc for specific devices (e.g. iPAD, Andriod, etc... tablets): -
- GSM module
- Screen
- SIM card slot
And introduce an App (iOS, Andriod, Windows, etc...) to allow the user to control, setup, and manage the specific setup required on their device/ car.
this will mean the user have more control on the Software on the Tablet/ device used (by either upgrade or replacement), and get access to live data on maps (traffic, google maps, etc), google (or other) services, get access to other apps and service available on the device used, and still get access to Car GPS info and music thorough Bluetooth. The app could allow the user to still use the controls in the car to bring up service/ info required, and control music, volume and so on...
I think this would make it a better experience for the user.
Just my opinion
