"manual mode" vs 4,3,2 center diff question
<center><img src="http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u103/vwgti16vt/Audi%20A8/IMG00292.jpg"></center><p>So I have a question about "manual mode" or tiptronic verses the 4,3,2 gear options that are below "D" and the center Differential
Is it true that in "manual mode" or tiptronic the center diff is locked?
Conversely if I were the place the car in "3", for example, would it also hold the car in 3rd gear but the center diff not be locked?
Thanks for any input and sorry about the blackberry picture.

I think it is "designed in" to the unit, so the unit itself would have to be swapped.
But I doubt that there are other torsen units that will fit in its place.

The standard bias is 2:1
Stasis offers a <a href="http://www.stasisengineering.com/Category_Detail.aspx?id=9&VID=51&PID=98">4:1 bias Torsen</a> for "only" $1000, but only for manual transmission cars, and hence not the D2.
