Default 02' S8......................

I have the oppurtunity to buy a near mint S8, black exterior, tan interior, 45k miles, all highway, he is asking $44k, is that a fair deal.

What's everyones thought on this car?

Thanks

Well I bought a near mint 2001 S8 very recently for $30K with 35k miles on the clock but that was out here in the middle east where European cars tend to be cheaper. The car is certainly the best that I have ever owned and a real pleasure to drive. I previously owned an SL500 but expansion of the family meant that I needed something that would take a child seat. As far as I can tell there is little to choose on performance between the S8 and SL so I can still have my fun!

Default That's a fair deal. I searched for almost a year

for the one I wanted missing out on 2 by an hour (no kidding). If the price is fair and it's the car you want (color & options) do it. There aren't many of these around and if you find the one you want pull the trigger! On a special car like this you can't jack around or it'll be gone. You'll love it.

Default Do it

Like everyone says, if it's the car you want, at that price you're getting a heck of a deal. After getting mine, my only regret is that I hadn't bought one years earlier.

Default The exhaust made the most noticeable difference

I've gotten about a dozen comments from different people about how incredible the exhaust sounds. People usually ask, "is that the stock exhaust?" And when I tell them no, they usually say that they thought it was aftermarket, but they couldn't tell for sure. It's a subtle increase in sound, and I think it sounds great!

I can feel a slight decrease in time-between shifts with the Tip chip, but not a whole lot. I've got a GIAC Tip chip in my A4, and this Sportec Tip chip is not nearly as harsh. If you didn't know it was chipped, you'd probably never notice it.

The engine computer upgrade is hard to notice. I just trust Sportec when they claim 20hp increase...it's all I can do. I tried to have my car dynoed before and after the ECU upgrade there at AutoSport Werks, but they said they couldn't dyno a car with automatic transmission.
