12K damage to my A8
Embarrassing to tell this story about myself and my 98 A8, but after a couple of weeks I have leveled with myself to better come out with it than live the rest of my life not knowing the inputs from you guys.
Two weeks ago late at night as I was pulling out of a parking structure that I do not normally use, I scarped the passenger mirror on a concrete column. I shifted the gear to go forward and before I know it the car took off with maximum force, jumped the curb in front of me and hit the side of a car on the other side of the curb. The total length from when my car took off to the point where it hit a ford Mustang was no more than 2.5 car length (the curb was 4” high and about 4TM long). I hit the Mustang so bad that the itTMs front wheel bent side ways. My bumper was pushed in my front wheel and both cars had to be towed. I have the car at Brooks motors in Oakland (the only Audi Aluminum certified body shop, they do outstanding body work) and the insurance bill is 12K.
I am convinced that I must have floored the gas pedal instead of the brake. However, I can not see how it would have happened between when I stopped after my car hit the side mirror and when I shifted into drive and the car took off. How did the shift lock not work? Could I have partially pushed the brake with my foot when I changes the from R to D?
Any advise would be appreciated.

Re: Sudden Acceleration
I would get an attorney and claim sudden acceleration. You had all the old people that bought their first Audi use that claim. Just kidding! Sorry about your loss. If you were working a 14 hour day, maybe you can submit this night on your expense report.
