18 vs. 19 inch tires

Northern Minnesota (more)
No question that the 19's won't work here all winter, I was just wondering if there was enough performance difference between the 19's with perfoprmance tires and the 18's with all seasons to warrrant the expense and monkeying with changing/storing tires twice a year.

This subject is getting more play than the V60 phone issue.
I chose the 19" wheels because I preferred the look. Then I was told, by the salesperson, that the performance tires should be changed out for an all-season type for the winter months. Upon reading opinion after opinion here on the forum, I ordered the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. After realizing that I was going to change tires twice a year anyway, I cancelled the Michelins and ordered the dedicated snows, the Blizzak LM-22`s. The 19s will work all winter if you attach LM-22`s to them!

IMHO, Greenie has the optimum solution if ...
you need to deal with a real winter. The only problem is that there's not much choice of 19" winter tires. And you will notice a big difference between 19" performance tires and 18" A/S's.

Re: 18 vs. 19 inch tires
I'm having a similar dilema. I want the summertime handling, but I'm afraid that the 19" will make the ride too harsh for the family car. Also, the roadsin the NY metropolitan area leave much to be desired and I can only imagine the rims would get bent. If anyone has amy thoughts on these issues I'd appreciate hearing them.
