1997 A8 4.2 Quatro Coolant
My A8 is just low enough on collant to set off the warning light when cornering hard, can I use the Porsche coolant I use in my 1999 Carrera, do I have to use the VW/ Audi Coolant? All I need to add is maby a quart.

Audi specifies G12 coolant. Pink in color. If porsche uses....
the same coolant then you're good to go.
I tried to determine what coolant your car specifies, but it was simply referred to as "Porsche coolant - Pink/Red" on most sites.
Based on what I read, I believe your Porsche coolant will be the same color, however you should double/triple check that it is ***G12*** coolant.
Hope this helps.

Water is better than the wrong coolant...even 1 lousy ounce of the wrong stuff is a huge mistake. It MUST be pink or purple G-12...nothing else. The reaction with the wrong coolant forms a brown sludge that will not go away until a flush...damaging to plastic fittings, thermostat, sensors and even possible heater core clogger. DON'T do it.
