1998 A8 Transmission surging at low rpm in higher gears
Hi Forum,
Thank you to all who have contributed useful knowledge to these discussions. I replaced my heater fan motor and it was easy!
I've got a problem with my transmission. It seems like it can't decide weather to lock up the torque converter at around slower speeds, mainly in 3rd or 4th when the rpms drop below about 1600. It seems to "lock up" and drop the rpms to 1200, then unlock and the rpms go back to almost 1600.
It still happens when I'm using the manual shift (tip) and I'm currently running TCM program 00011. BTW, it is a lot of fun to drive with 00011. I've also tried 00012, which is almost as good.
The car has 77K miles. I've changed the transmission fluid using the blau kit. I did find the magnets to look like chia pets with some metal shavings, but, not as bad as some of the other pictures I've seen.
Anyone have a suggestion besides, "drive faster"?
I read somewhere about a 3rd and 4th oil feed tube?
Thank you for your imput.
