Battery dead, can not unlock my S8
Hi people, Came back from holidays, tried to open my car and nothing. The battery is so dead that it doesn’t have enough charge to activate the solenoid ( I think). I tried turning the key on both locks and nothing.
should I be able to physically turn the key and unlock the door. Nothing happens. I was going to buy an endoscope camera to look at the lock mechanism but they are 5 day delivery.
can anyone help please.
are you out there Mr Silver D2

Thanks guys but I think I know now that the locks might be gummed up and won’t manually activate the locks. I tried turning the key every which way and used heaps of lubricant but still can’t open locks. Now have to try to break in to the car. If I had a schematic of the door lock layout I could probably break in.
cheers

It's a good idea to mechanically work the lock cylinders on the car evry once in a while so they don't freeze up for when you need them. I had to disassemble my trunk lock to free it up. Maybe more lube and waiting? If you go to the positive battery cable connection in the front right wheelwell, you could put a battery charger on it and get your electrics back.

As above, the main power junction under a little cover in the RF (passenger's side USA) wheel well is an easy place to get power to the car. The alternator post is also a great idea.
It should be possible to open the trunk lock with the key, turn it upwise (I think) and press in. It could be gummed up. Good to make sure this works for emergencies in the future.
I've not heard of the driver's key lock getting gummed up, suggest trying that again also.
