I have a 2001 S8. When I start the car the instrument cluster does not illuminate. If I put on the lights it does illuminate. I have tried to use the (+) and (-) buttons but they don't respond. Also when the lights are on the plus & minus buttons do not respond. Any suggestions?

Yours is not coded to illuminate without the lights.

The IC lights can be recoded in Module 17 (Instruments) Adaptation Channel 19.

00000 - only lit when lights are on
10000 - needles always on
20000 - scale always on
30000 - needle and scale always on

So I went to the dealer and had the instrument cluster lights recoded. Now, in the daylight the instrument cluster lights light up but at night or when I am in the shade only the needles light up and the scale is black. Any suggestions?
