98 Audi rear Air bag light is on , need help to trun off/ reset
Hey everyone new to this site, have owned audi's since 86 when I bought my first 81'5000s,
and now 1year into my first A8 4.2 and loving it although I wish it was the "L". next time I guess. oh well, on to my delima.
I have looked through a lot of the discussions and I can't seem to find much on how to turn the air bag light off. It is the backseat air bag sensor, which I replaced, I have had the light shut off, but then when you place anything in the backseat boom the light is back on.
The check says resistance is too high, I'm confused and I hate seeing that light on.
any help or ideas would be great.

Here is some info on your problem.......
From an earlier thread:
"The dealer told me the occupancy sensor had gone bad so it needed to be replaced. I bought the part and installed it myself. The job isn't that hard to do. Just remove the seat and disassemble the leather covering.
Observing the sensor pad as I removed it I noticed that it wasn't glued to the seat foam anymore. I believe the glue dried out and caused the pad to not be attached to the foam.
Jeff Bernstein
In looking back I believe that the adhesive that holds the sensor pad to the seat may go bad and this may be what causes the intermittent fault. Knowing this I would check to make sure that the sensor is still glued to the foam before I bought a new sensor for about $100."<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/41293.phtml">Look here.....</a></li></ul>

Re: Here is some info on your problem.......
Hey Thanks I went and looked at the seat and I can see lifting under the leather. So all I would have to do is remove the leather and re apply glue?

Re: I have not had this problem, however my understanding is that you just re-glue the sensor.
great, I appreciate the help.
when it finally warms up I'll get out there and try it.

Re: Welcome to the forum jabet413.
No child seat, but I do throw my work bag in back all the time. When I do reset it, thats what uaually sets it off again.
I'm going to wait until it warms up a bit to pull the seat, for re-gluing
thanks
