Made a video-clip from the ice-track event last week. Take a look at the URL below if you want to see my A8 on ice-track, with 3 year old studless tires ment for quite different conditions. Not exactly full control! :-O

The format is WMV, the only one Windows Movie Maker seems to be able to produce. I'm not very good at this video-editing stuff, so I don't know how to convert it into a .mpg. But Windows Media Player seems to play it just fine.

Quality isn't fantastic, I made it small. Have higher resolution if anyone wants.

How did the A8 compare with the other cars - all Audis?

Yes, the blue S2 coupé is very nice! I think it was him that had an inboard cam, filming while he was cathing up on me. Will try to get the whole sequence on file and upload it.

The A8 compares very good to the other cars with its fine balance, but good tires was most of the game under these conditions. My 3 year old winter tires with "H" speed rating (131 mph) ment for occational winter slush under higher temperatures didn't have a chance against smaller cars with new supersoft Q-rated tires. I tried the VW Golf 4Motion that won the class in the competition, driving it on ice felt like I was on unpaved, dry road in comparison to my A8. The grip was that different.

I had almost no sideways grip at all, 4-wheel drifting in all corners, making it very hard to set up the rear around the corners. Very last year with that lousy tires! The reason I bought them 3 years ago is that they then where the only ones with high enough load index. There has been a lot of development since, so now there are good tires available for us with the large barges too. :-)

V0 - Rally studs
V1 - 4WD with road legal studs
V2 - 4WD studless, 2WD w/road legal studs
V3 - 2WD studless
