Hi, mine is 1997 A8 3.7 The tranny's problem is that that it overheats. When the car is cold it shifts fine from 1 and on, however, after 4 to return you feel the hit underneath. Anyway, it works until I am stuck in a traffic or drive more than an hour non-stop. At this point, it does not shift to any gear and slips. So I have to stop, wait an hour or so to cool it down and then I am back on track again. I replaced the filter and oil but the same, only little improvement. This is ZF 5HP19FL . So, I begin to feel the issue when the shift begins to delay after RPM goes over 2000 and may reach 3000. Here I stop, if lucky to find the partking, grab a cup of coffee and sit waiting until it cools down.
