ABS Module or??? Opinions

ABS Module or??? Opinions
I have searched through and read many threads on the cause of abs/brake light coming on intermitenly and have found that it could be the module itself, or dirty brake sensor or a bad wire/voltage.
I finally got sick of the abs/brake light and the beeps (as it was coming on more frequent) and took it in to the shop this morning. The mechanic says it is the ABS module.
I explained to him about my research through the forum and he said he is 100% positive it is the module. Any thoughts on if I should get another opinion?

He is 100% positive because???

It would be nice if he explained why he is 100% sure it is the ABS module.
I would have the sensors cleaned before investing money or time in repairing the sensor wiring or ABS module. See what happens after trying the cheap and easy (possible) solution to the problem.
Heck, if you know how to take a wheel of your car you can do it yourself. No tools required: wiggle them out of their harnesses, clean them and their harnesses, put the sensors back in.
Good luck!

Have you read this before?
What are you symptoms? What year is your car? The ABS module is prone to go out on the A6, but very rarely has it gone out on the A8's.

ABS Troubleshooting

Here is what I did on my 98 A8. I cut the cable about two inch from picture of the link below where it pointed the fault area replace the cable with a new wires. Heat shrink it back up and check it out. If it still come back then I would think it's the module. If it go away, then it's a cheap solution.

He says it is a known problem with A4/A6, but I have experienced the kicking at low speeds described in Paul's article. He did say that he is not able to communicate or pull codes from the unit. I think that is why he said he is 100% sure.
One other thing is that the Airbag light just came on and CEL came on but when out. I should try to clean of out the sensors myself or have a shop down the street do it for me.

Sure sounds like dirty sensors to me
Heck, if you want to spend HUGE dollars repalcing the module, go ahead. But it's probably one of the two items listed on the procedure.
