aftermarket GPS/sat/radio
Have any of you installed an aftermarket (kenwood, pioneer, etc) in dash GPS, sat, radio system?
The audi units looks great, but the need to purchase seperate components for bluetooth & sat puts the price pretty high. I have an '02 S8 w/bose system. Looking forward to hearing good & bad... |
What about this-bluetooth and runs through the Audio system with the

I went to low budget route
Swapped my symphony 1 head unit for a symphony2 (Thanks PaulW for the excellent writeup and help). Added an xm receiver . Bought a Garmin gps with an a/c vent mount. Works great, easy to install and didn't cost a fortune.

My understanding is that an aftermarket head unit will not be plug and play.
The bose stereo uses "proprietary signaling" so he stereo would have to be rewired. I think that the speakers use a weird ohm and need to be replaced too. This is what I learned about a year ago when I was going to put an aftermarket headunit in my a4.
