Alls well, but then it's an Audi
So, we (Gabor) fix the tranny... and the Nav+ fixes itself. Today I install the winter wheels and fix the ever ominiscent (that's right, a new word) brake pad light butofcourse the check engine light is now on, but who knows or cares what this might be.
I would except my old vagcom is, well uhm working the Bangkok coup.
But this the Audi life, always something.
Bring on the wet stuff!

Yeah well I beat Paul and Tozo by replacing my halfshat from raxles in five...
hours start to finish. High score wins right? I can hardly wait for the right side CV boot to burst. On a scale of 1 - 10 this procedure flat out effin sux - unless Tozo is on yer team.

In addition turn on your lights, high beams, emergency lights, turn off traction control, and...
...keep the emergency brake on while driving to have a little Christmas light show on your dashboard!

You must have followed a wrong procedure :)
I did a passenger's side front axle today. Took it out, took it apart, cleaned it, replaced CV boot, repacked with grease, reinstalled in 30 minutes.

I only met Mark
.. for one glorious 36 hour day... or so it seemed. But,
(and with all due respect the mind picture of Team Pollan under D2 cracks me a smile.
That said, I'm sure some fun was had. I think.

Yup. And I helped.
In fairness though, the car was already up in the air. So you'd have to add the time to take the wheel off. But I do believe it was about 20 minutes, all told. Counting the time spent looking for a bigger prybar. Thanks again.

I hold this truth self evident :-). Do tell please for future grease events. I...
broke the axle nut and wheel bolts, got the front on stands, removed the six 12-pt bolts at the flange, went full lock to the right (left shaft was being removed), and proceeded to pull and cuss and cuss some more. From start including set up time this was one hour. To install the new one I had to remove the heat shield at the flange. I did notice that the new one had a dimpled dome on the inner CV joint. It did protrude a few mm higher in one point. I simply could not get it in and barely did without the heat shield in place. Anyhoo, please do share Gabor.
