Default Amazing 26.4 MPG on recent trip

I went from Chicago to Cedar Rapids, Iowa last week, about 400 miles round trip.

I reset my trip computer after clearing the Chicago burbs, right past Naperville. Cruise control on at about 70 MPH most of the way there and back.

Before I got back into the burbs....26.4 MPG on the trip computer! After I filled up it showed something like 680 miles to empty.

I guess the SuperSprint exhaust does flow better than stock.....and after I did the timing belt last summer I picked up about 1.5 MPG on the highway.

I use to get something closer to 23.5.

Does an exhaust make that much of a difference?

Default Super! I'm amazed my my 2000 milage

I usually get 27 to 28 mpg in my stock 2000 A8. I drove from Santa Clara to LA and back a week or so ago and got 28.5 mpg averaging 75 mph -- and that was over the (in)famous "Grapevine" hill on I-5.

Thanks, looks about right. You must be an engineer who lives in the two worlds of Canada and USofA.

Default Is it that obvious?

I made several trips to Spain last year (and Germany 2 years before), so converting units is no big deal.
