Default another one bites the dust...tranny

Just got the "call" from my wife...tranny is toast.

It went without any warning. High revs, lots of noise into limp mode in about 3 miles while I was on the phone with her.

So.. I have the rebuilt one from my old car in the garage. I was planning on bringing up to ZF and have it bench tested.

Gabor, any chance your coming to the S-Fest in a couple of weeks?

Bob

160k on a 2000. I changed the filter at 140k, not the fluid.

So you put the old fluid back? Why?

Default Ummm, 160k out of a tranny seems pretty good to me . . .

Especially those that have been known to fail around 60k . . .

Default Looks like you will have a busy weekend. You will need this setup for the exhaust down pipe.

Default Just another reason to leave the tranny alone, fluid and all... read previous thoughts on this...

Sorry, I know what it feels like... Good luck with the swap! See the thread where this is discussed, there are other threads as well...

https://forums.audiworld.com/a8/msgs/160464.phtml</a

Default Sorry chum, didn't know he had 160k on the clock at the time of the post.

I saw 2000 m.y. and a busted tranny. 160k is not good on a premium vehicle IMHO, maybe someday ZF will get it right.
