Any buying advice for 98 or 99 in Denver?
Looking to buy a used 98 or 99 A8 in Denver; any thoughts or advice on sources, brokers, sellers, mechanics? I've looked at 5 or 6 cars, but most have looked tired and worn. Best so far has been a 98 without the warm weather package at about $32K. Any help would be appreciated...

Re: Any buying advice for 98 or 99 in Denver?
The only advice that I can give you is- patience. I looked for several months for an A8, and not just in Denver (where I live). I talked to dealers and a couple of Audi brokers, and the response was that there are very few A8s in the used market right now, and it has become very difficult to get them in Denver beacuse most of the off-lease A8s are auctioned off in Pennsylvania and California. I refuse to buy a car off of ebay or other internet sources due to the difficulty/expense involved in inspecting and driving the vehicle. There were lots of A8s for sale from the east coast on ebay, and I suppose that if you have a good connection that you trust implicitly to inspect and drive the car for you prior to purchase then you might be able to go that route. I ended up with a '97 A8 from Prestige Audi, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend OR bash them- they were OK, but not exceptional. I did find a good Audi mechanic on the South side of town (470 & Kipling area, West of you) to do a pre-purchase inspection if you need one. Email me if you want the specifics. (I assume that you are in Lonetree by your sig.)
Good luck on your search- my A8 is by FAR the finest (roomy) sport sedan I have ever driven! I love mine (as much as you can love an inanimate object ;-).

Thanks. Your comments match my thoughts. Fortunately, I'm in no rush. I've visited Prestige a few times; but they move used A8s so fast, I don't think I can get what I want for a good price. I plan on sticking with private parties and brokers...

Sunset Audi in Beaverton had 4 last time I looked...
The Audi dealer here in Beaverton had 4 used A8's, last time I looked (they may be rather pricey as Pacific NW cars demand higher prices). I've seen a few others for sale at large dealer lots around here also.

http://www.doc-pc.com/</a

Call Ken Kanazu at Prestige...
He is a good friend of mine. He use to work at McDonald in Littleton.
BTW, I have been trying to talk my folks into a used A8...my dad bought a new Lincoln Continental instead. Yuck. They live near Marston Lake...near the corner of Quincy and Sheridan.
Good luck.
