Hi,new here,been cruising here for a while now is time for me to post.So couple of weeks ago,on a very cold morning,my instrument cluster went dead after some weird noises that came from the center console,no speedometer,tach,lcd.The whole thing is toasted.Can any of you gurus tell me what's going on?and how much to fix this problem.I'm want to trade this thing in for a RS6 here in denver,so not looking to spend a small fortune.

You can pull out the instrument cluster and send it to BBA for a rebuild for $350 plus the shipping. Doing this will keep your odometer correct and fix your problems.

Oh i see.It's a 97 a8,so if I get a different instrument cluster,from another car,will i loose my odometer reading?.If that's the case i'll send it in for rebuild.

Before sending it in for a rebuild I would suggest checking things like fuses and for a loose wiring harness to the cluster.

Just take out the cluster and check all the cables to it, they can come loose and create problems like yours.

How do you remove the cluster?

well worht it. I used them for my S8 cluster and couldn't be happier with the results.

I'd go that route.

Its a real easy pop in and out for the most part, jsuta couple of screws and some zipties, no real issues at all; especially for a novice such as myself.
