I tried searching, I CANNOT find the information I want.

So We might have a A8 arriving in our lot soon(this will be the 4th one) and it's a 1999 pre-facelift with the halogen headlights

I'd like to add HID's since most of my other A6's and A8's have them, and well... I cannot find any good information

So obviously i am NOT sticking the HID's into the reflectors, so the questions start here

How would i go about adding projectors? Will the stock HID's from the 2000+ A8 fit? where are the ballasts unlike the A6 where they are attached to the bottom of the assembly. I haven't messed with the A8's much(none of ours work right now)

Obviously the self leveling system won't be present so I'd likely have to adjust them by hand. will the stock wiring be capable of adapting the HID's?

Any information would greatly be appreciated since most threads mention doing an "OEM conversion" but I cannot find any details regarding one

The 1999 d2 A8 comes with projector headlights. Xenon (HID) kits are plug and play.

They have a high and low beam projector. Most people just add a Xenon kit for the low beam. There is even room inside the projector housing for the ballast.

(the HID lighting was an option and you can even find the OEM ballast and bulbs on ebay. However they are crazy expensive)

Awesome, thanks! this is the first A8 we have that... has a front end still. It arrives in a week

I plan to use OEM parts since the aftermarket ballasts suck and warm up very slowly
