Is there a write up for removing the alternator? I am in the process of changing the oil cooler seals and are stumped with the alternator removal.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

This is just an update. Please don't post on this thread to keep the uniformity of this FAQ Digest. I will start a new thread for comments.

The Audi has been garaged for over a year now but I decided to buy insurance for a couple of weeks to give it some road time. The good news is that this mod helps a lot! Another 1/2 turn may totally remove the hunting, but there may be a better way (see last comment). Thump is gone.

All that I did:
- did this mod with 3/4 clockwise turn
- new filter
- reused most of the Audi trans fluid (all for science guys!)
- added a bottle of Red Lubegard
- topped up with new Audi trans fluid
- recoded trans to sport mode (00011)
- modded the tps to 2mm (not sure if this is needed though)

The only time I feel any hunting is when inclining a hill right after a shift. The engine is lugging up the hill at only 1100 rpm and the torque converter pump is producing little pressure. Of course, a little pedal and it goes away.

Instead of increasing the torque converter pressure any more, I would prefer to convince the car to down shift earlier. No way should it stay in gear, up a hill, at 1100 rpm.
